Our History
Powerhorse Splitter® was founded in 1997 by a group of friends who loved the outdoors. After spending countless weekends splitting firewood by hand for their campfires, they decided there had to be a better way. That spark of inspiration soon led to the creation of our very first electric log splitter.
Equipped with a powerful electric motor, fast ram speed, and rugged steel construction, that first log splitter was a huge leap forward in convenience and efficiency. Word quickly spread among the local community about this incredible new machine that could split a cord of wood in a fraction of the time.
Bolstered by this enthusiastic response, we turned log splitter production into a full-time business. In the early years, operations were based out of a small workshop as demand for our products continued to grow. Before long, we had to expand into a larger facility to keep up with orders.
Over the past 25+ years, we’ve remained committed to developing innovative log splitters right here in the USA. Today, our 60,000 square foot manufacturing facility houses state-of-the-art equipment to build splitters of the utmost durability. Our Facility
Our manufacturing facility in Nashville utilizes cutting-edge technologies and stringent quality control checks to produce the most rugged, dependable log splitters available.
We use top-of-the-line CNC machining to fabricate key splitter components out of thick steel plate. This computer-controlled process enables precision down to a fraction of a millimeter, ensuring perfect dimensions and consistency.
Our on-site powder coating system applies an ultra-durable finish to all our splitters. This powder coat is baked on at 400°F to provide incredible scratch, chip, and corrosion resistance.
Robotic welding workstations join log splitter frames together with consistent, heavy welds in all the right places. The robots can work tirelessly, achieving welds superior to manual methods.
Extensive stress testing pushes our splitters to the limit before they leave the factory. Hydraulic pressure tests, cycle tests, and even overloading to destruction ensures outstanding durability.

Every log splitter we make is constructed from heavy-duty steel. Our frames, beam channels, and crucial components are made from thick steel plate for incredible durability. Box-style beams provide tremendous torsional rigidity under high splitting forces. Robotic welds join everything together into one solid unit.
We use industrial-grade hydraulic components capable of producing over 12 tons of splitting force. High-pressure hydraulic hoses are wrapped in protective braid. And a durable powder coat finish protects against all kinds of weather and abuse.
Powerful Motors
Powerhorse Splitter® log splitters are equipped with potent electric motors to deliver pure splitting muscle. Our 3HP and 5HP motors generate massive torque for tackling even the toughest woods with ease.
These industrial-duty motors are totally enclosed to lock out moisture, debris, and corrosion. Copper wiring, sealed ball bearings, and strict quality control ensure years of reliable service. Rubber vibration isolators smooth out operation and reduce noise.
Fast Cycle Times
Efficiency is what our log splitters are all about. That’s why they utilize a fast ram speed of up to 14 inches per second to power through wood in seconds.
The quick retract time gets ready for the next split with minimal delay between cycles. Combined with generous throw clearing big blocks fast, you’ll slice through pile after pile.
Smart Control
thoughtful design makes our log splitters easy and intuitive to operate. The ergonomic control handle provides excellent leverage, allowing anyone to engage the cylinder safely and comfortably.
Two-hand actuation ensures you are always clear of the splitting area before the ram fires. Releasing either palm switch stops the cycle immediately for total control.
The auto-return feature retracts the cylinder automatically after each split, minimizing the handle pumping needed. An optional log dislodger safely frees any stuck pieces with a simple press.
Horizontal & Vertical Models

Horizontal splitters are the classic style, ideal for splitting logs across the grain. Lay a log on the beam, split, remove the pieces, and move on to the next. The horizontal configuration is simple, efficient, and intuitive.
